Africa – Asia connection

May 28, 2009 § Leave a comment

There are many new markets for Africa to get into. But we have to learn the art of marketing and product development. Through my many hours of carousing the internet, it has become clear that Asia fancies a lot of African aesthetic and designs especially Japan. That translates into – market. The attraction is some sort of fusion between hip-hop gear and urban fashion (especially the harlem rennaissance-esque stuff see Sistahs of Harlem from New York) or (Stoned Cherrie from South Africa) and African fabrics / Afro-chic fashion. It’s not too complicated because all of these represent urban images of the African diaspora. It makes sense too because all this sort of matches the Asian (esp. Japanese) funky aesthetic where anything goes and boldness and creativity are your only limits.
